NetSuite Small Business

NetSuiteNetSuite Small Business is a browser-based accounting system (similar to KashFlow). It is said to be ideal for small businesses that are starting to grow and setting up branches with different people in charge of updating the accounting system. NetSuite divides the process into different roles: Administrator, Controller, Customer Center, eCommerce Site Manager, Employee Center, Marketing Manager, Receivables Clerk, Sales Manager, Sales Rep., Sr. Executive, Support Lead, Support Manager, and Warehouse Manager.

This setup is ideal for medium sized business because it allows different people to assume the responsibility of updating each section of the business. For example, the company’s warehouse staff  can manage the inventory using the system’s Warehouse Manager while the website administrator can manage the eCommerce Site Manager.

However, this feature may be a bit hard for smaller scale business because the lone user would have to assume all these different roles.

As it is a browser-based system, there is no need for installation. All the transactions however goes through the internet and may be troublesome for some. It is also text-based as opposed to some actual software that relies on graphic-based navigation.

As other accounting systems, NetSuite Small Business includes functions such as accounts receivable, which in this case is excellent as it offers everything the user need to manage all of the invoices and shipping. Other useful features are accounts payable, payroll, inventory management and a tool to manage your bank accounts.

It is not like the traditional accounting softwares and some users may have a hard time adapting to it. Also, since features are assigned to roles, the user must learn the role for each task that needs to be done, hence, the user must invest more time learning it.
